General Update for 2023 and Latest News

BAA is back to normal with membership renewal and application available through the Membership Secretary and Brampton Post Office for the 2023 season.

The AGM was held at the end of the January 2023. There are no changes to the prices of Membership and visitor permits. One change that was made is that Permit/Ticket holders (day, week and grayling permits) will be Members of Brampton Angling Association for the duration of their permit. Compliance with BAA’s Privacy Policy requires consent to holding Members data and we ask that applicants sign the agreement on the application form or the record sheet held by the Membership Secretary or Brampton Post Office.

The Committee is always looking to get more involvement of and contribution from Members to help us run the Association to best meet Members’ and the Association’s needs. If any Members wish to contribute to the administration of BAA or wish to ask questions, make observations or share experiences of fishing our waters please let us know. Members can contact the Secretary or any Committee member. BAA also has an active Facebook page and Members can post there.

For 2023 the Committee intends to:-

  • try to organise some limited but realistic and manageable clearance of routes to waters to aid anglers’ access (and seek to control some invasive non native species)
  • prepare some sketch maps of popular and accessible fishing beats with some informal access notes (we have one for Lanercost at the moment)
  • offer a few informal river “walks” to help members get to know waters and access to them (these are likely and best timed to be in early season where access and visibility is best)

If Members have any particular locations that they wish to be considered for these initiatives please let the Secretary or a Committee member know. We would also appreciate any help Members could offer to do this – just let us know if you can. Contact the Secretary or a Committee member for further information. We will update these proposals on the Facebook page.

"Check, Clean, Dry"

MEMBERS SHOULD OBSERVE ENVIRONMENT AGENCY GUIDANCE FOR PROTECTING AGAINST THE SPREAD OF INVASIVE NON NATIVE SPECIES (INNS) BY CHECKING, CLEANING AND DRYNG EQUIPMENT USED FOR FISHING (PAYING PARTICULAR ATTENTION TO WADERS AND ESPECIALLY FELT SOLED WADER BOOTS)

Thank you for continuing to support Brampton Angling Association. Best wishes for the new season and “tight lines”.
